The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region Member Handbook highlights all of the rules, regulations and policies that will ensure both members and staff enjoy the YMCA centers!

General Policies

Facility Access

To access any YMCA facility, one must have a valid YMCA membership card, PPYMCA mobile app check-in barcode or a photo ID. Cards are non-transferable and remain the property of the YMCA. Please be prepared to present your photo ID if you forget to bring your card on your visit or when requesting a replacement card.

All children age 6 and under must be with a parent or guardian, checked into Learn & Play or in a program at all times while in the YMCA.
Ages 7-10 can be in the YMCA in designated areas as long as there is a parent or guardian in the building.
Age 11+ members can check into the YMCA and be in designated areas.

Code of Conduct

We are a charitable nonprofit community organization committed to strengthening the foundation of communities through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Please help us create a safe, comfortable and inclusive environment at all times by following our Code of Conduct.

  • Please uphold the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, caring responsibility.
  • Please follow the rules posted within each of our facilities and their respective program areas.
  • Help us maintain a family-friendly environment which is welcoming, genuine, nurturing and caring for all people.
  • Profanity or inappropriate comments, conduct actions will not be tolerated.
  • Liquids in spill-proof non-breakable containers are welcome in Y program areas.
  • Please keep attire appropriate and modest. See Dress Code below.
  • Be courteous to your fellow Y members by refraining from a conversation on your cell phone.

Appropriate Gym Attire

The YMCA is a family facility and we strive to provide an environment that is comfortable for everyone. As it relates to dress-code, we ask that our members use the following guidelines when visiting our facilities. As always, modesty is the best policy.

Enforcement and interpretation of these rules are at the discretion of YMCA staff.

Tobacco, Drug, Alcohol & Firearm Policy

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region requires a tobacco, drug and alcohol-free environment. No alcohol consumption, smoking, dipping or other usage of tobacco/drugs in any YMCA facility, parking lot or surrounding outdoor property. In addition, using E-cigs, pipes and vapor products is also prohibited.

Firearms are prohibited in all YMCA facilities, parking lots and surrounding outdoor property.

Sex Offender Policy

To aid the effort in our ability to provide a safe and threat-free environment, the YMCA monitors sexual offender registries. Persons on the list will not be eligible for Y membership, program participation, volunteer or employment opportunities at the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region or access any Y facility.

Locker Room Policy

Area Ages:
Locker room types may vary some at each of the centers.
Mens/Womens: Ages 16+, Children age 4 and under allowed with parent or guardian
Boys/Girls: Ages 4-15, Parent or guardian of the same gender may accompany youth in the locker room. Shower facilities are for youth only.
Universal: Open to all members. It is available for family members with children, people with special needs accompanied by their caregivers, or anyone who prefers more privacy.

Please be responsible and secure your belongings. The YMCA is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Leave valuable items at home or keep them with you.

  • Overnight use of lockers is not permitted. Locks left on lockers overnight will be removed at the owner's expense and articles will be stored in lost and found.
  • Use of recording devices is prohibited while in the locker room. This includes cell phones and cameras.
  • No loitering, no food, no glass, no alcohol, no smoking or vaping.
  • Keep our facility clean. Pick up after yourself and dispose of debris.
  • Please respect the privacy of others while in the locker room.
  • Please be respectful of others and use headphones.
  • Report any issues to a Y staff member.
  • Members and guests are required to follow the YMCA Code of Conduct.

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is bound by state law (24-34-601) to allow members to use the facilities they identify with, as gender identity is a protected class.
Our staff addresses all concerns on a case-by-case basis to ensure the best outcome for all. Additionally, all of our centers have space available that offers privacy for members, and upon request, our YMCA team members can offer alternative changing areas helping to meet the needs of all parties should an incident occur.

Cell Phones & Cameras/Video Recording Devices

Cameras/video recording devices are not allowed in locker rooms, restrooms, changing areas, or showers. Cameras/video recording devices are permitted on the fitness floor, provided members are only taking photo/videos of themselves or others they are working out with. When using a camera/video recording device, members and guests must be respectful of the privacy of others. Excessive equipment that gets in the way of other members and participants, such as tripods, lighting, etc are not permitted. 

Phone calls should be made only in designated areas, and use of electronics should not disrupt others.

Photo Release Policy

By signing the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region's Photo Release Policy, a member allows the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region the right to use that member's name and likeness in a photograph, filmed production, advertisement, audio segment, or other electronic or print promotional media for the YMCA. This shall extend to any and all phases of the utilization of the production including publicity, promotion, advertising and marketing.

Privacy Policy

Lost or Stolen Property / Lost & Found

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region will not be liable for lost or stolen items while members and/or program participants are on YMCA premises or engaged in YMCA activities. Valuables should be left at home as lockers will not be available at this time. Lost and found items are kept in the facility for a limited time (YMCA center specific) and then are donated to charity.

Accidents & Incidents

In the event of an accident, injury, or incident, members and guests should contact a staff member immediately. First-aid kits and automated external defibrillators (AED) are available at each YMCA family center.

The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region has partnered with the City of Colorado Springs Therapeutic Recreation Program to serve people with disabilities of all ages who chose to participate in Y programs, supporting the vision that the Y is for all.

Guest Pass / Day Pass Policy

All guests must be accompanied by a member of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region. Both the guest and YMCA member must check in at the Front Desk before utilizing the facility.

Guest Pass Rates:

Members, 18 years or older, may bring in two guests each day to the YMCA. Each individual guest may visit 1 time at no cost and are able to pay the daily guest rate thereafter while accompanied by a member. All nonmembers ages 16 and older must provide photo ID to gain access to the facility.

All non-members who desire to utilize any of the YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region facilities must complete the Contact Information Form, provide a valid photo ID and receive and pay for a Day Pass at the Front Desk prior to using any facility.

Lobby and Common Areas

These areas are for short term use only. Snacks and drinks are allowed. but full meals are discouraged and should not be brought into these areas.

Nationwide Membership

At the Y, we are for youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We are dedicated to ensuring our facilities, programs and services are open and welcoming to all. As part of this effort, we are proud to offer our members access to YMCA facilities across the United States that participate in Nationwide Membership. This way, our members can use the Y as often as they like, making it easier to achieve their health and wellness goals.

Financial Assistance & Automatic Payment

Program Cancellations

The YMCA reserves the right to cancel program or classes due to insufficient registrations or attendance as well as inclement weather conditions. In addition, all programs have cancellation policies related to weather or facility availability.

Membership Cancellations

To cancel your membership, please visit any of our centers and speak with a Membership Consultant. All cancellations must be submitted 5 days prior to your scheduled draft date in writing.

Service Fee

The Y imposes a service fee of 2.75% on all credit card transactions and 2.25% on all ACH transactions, which is not greater than our cost of acceptance.

Refund Policies

Youth & Adult Sports Programs

Sports, Aquatics, Healthy Living & Youth Programming

All fees paid will be refunded in full when the YMCA cancels a season or session. When a participant cancels at least 2 weeks before a program starts, a $10 will be charged for all refunds.  No refunds or credits will be authorized after the first session/practice or game/class.

The YMCA will reschedule any classes and/or games that have been canceled due to weather up to a specified date or number of games/classes.

The processing fee will not be charged if a credit is requested instead of a refund.

Before & After School Care

Plan withdrawal It is the YMCA's policy that written notice must be given 30 days in advance of your child's withdrawal. Any outstanding balance must be paid at the time of withdrawal. If cancellation is received after draft - no refund.

Plan change - It is the YMCA's policy that written notice must be given 30 days in advance of a change to your child's plan through the online form located HERE. This allows for accurate planning for staff to participant ratios. Fees may apply if upgrading plan option.

Summer Day Camp

Plan withdrawal - It is the YMCA's policy that written notice must be given at least 3 weeks in advance of withdrawal from the summer camp program through the online form located. HERE

Summer day camp change - It is the YMCA's policy that written notice must be given at least 3 weeks to change camp weeks through the online form located HERE. Fees may apply.

Camp Shady Brook

We have deposits in place for both campers ($100/week) and groups (50% of the guaranteed minimum contract). Upon cancellation, our policy is to provide a full refund minus the deposit.

Summer Pool Pass

No refunds will be issued for summer pool passes.

The YMCA understands that medical, emergency and other unforeseen situations do arise and refunds may be given based on extenuating circumstances. In these cases, please contact the YMCA to discuss your specific situation. Documentation may be required in these situations.

Refunds will not be authorized for requests made after a program has taken place (i.e. refund requests for non-use of a registered program).
